Micah was exposed to guitar at a young age by his dad and started playing and singing as a teen, learning folk, country, and rock that was popular at the time. He got his first paying gig with a band at age seventeen and started his own band with brother and best friend in 1990.

Having formed and reformed several country and rock bands with his brother, Micah earned a lot of knowledge that comes with being in a road band. He also started writing songs while honing his guitar and vocal skills on the country’s highways.

In early 2002, Micah’s brother and long time band mate had to quit the group. Growing more frustrated with where he was musically and wanting to do more than play in local clubs, he felt he needed to make a change in his life. At this point Micah started to concentrate a little more on his writing, the resulting songs helped influence his later decision to join The Great Divide.

Probably the most important change in Micah’s life came when he found the website of The Great Divide in the summer of 2003. TGD was searching for a new lead guitar player / front man. He was excited about the possibility of joining them, especially after listening to their back catalog of albums. Apprehensive at first, Micah finally emailed JJ and was quickly invited to Oklahoma to meet the guys and audition. Adding Micah to the mix has proven to be a wise decision according to the rest of the band, the fans, and the industry.
